Privacy and Data Protection
Your Privacy, Security & Anonymity Matter
At Echochime, protecting your privacy and keeping your identity anonymous is our top priority.
What We Collect and Why
We collect information to provide workers with transparent salary and workplace insights:
- Salary details – job title, pay amount, pay cycle, work type
- Work context – industry, location (state/city), and company name (optional)
- Optional background info – gender, cultural background, years of experience
- Account info – email address and display name (used for login, moderation, and verification)
This helps ensure the data is real, useful, and not abused.
What’s Public vs. Private
What other users can see:
- Job title, pay amount, industry, and state
- Work type, work model, and pay cycle
- (If shared) Company name and other compensation like bonuses or perks
What stays private:
- Information tied to your account: your display name and email address
- Any uploaded files (e.g. payslips) — never stored on our servers
- Any optional demographic info (e.g. gender, background) is never tied to your display name
- The rest of your sign-up responses are used for verifying your data and never linked to your identity
We only show anonymous insights. Your display name or email address is never displayed on your salary entry or linked to a salary entry, even if you include your company name.
How Your Data Is Protected
- Industry-standard encryption and secure storage
- Verification files are reviewed manually and deleted and not stored on our servers
- Account-level security (email verification, role-based access control)
- No real names collected. Only display names or pseudonyms
- We never sell your personal data
- Some technical data (like IP address or session activity) may be logged automatically for security purposes. This data is not used for tracking, profiling, or marketing.
- We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party tracking tools
We may share aggregated, anonymous insights with contributors or members to support transparency and fair pay, but never anything that identifies you.
We use firewalls, active protections, and secure design practices to help keep Echochime safe. Our hosting environment also includes 24/7 server monitoring, infrastructure firewalls, and international security standards (ISO/IEC 27001:2017) to further protect your data.
